Thanks to the backing loyal readers, we have been moving up to our last targets. We’re at 1309 donations, pushing towards our new hurdle of 1500. And at $895, we have started on our final fundraiser target of $45,000 for original reporting.
But as you can see, we are considerably short of our money goals! In some years past, we have gotten a big upswing at the close of the fundraiser. We hope members of this community will rally to make sure we can keep our hamster wheels running in 2027.
We’ve gotten many more enthusiastic messages from readers than ever in our long history. And our average donation size is above last year’s. But the total level is still behind.
This has been a very unsettled time but that has led some of our loyal donors to give even more generously, recognizing the value of solid information in navigating ever-tricker terrains. Can you join them?

In good times (should there be any) and bad, NC is, as so many others say, my first read of the day. It is the most rigorously brilliant, unflinching source of information and perspective on what is happening I have found. Additionally, it is improbably balanced by the steely warmth of the community of dedicated NC commentariat who contribute daily. Thank you to all the many writers, moderators (so essential), and most profoundly to Yves for creating and maintaining the high quality of this critical resource.

I have used intel provided by NC to set priorities and make decisions necessary for survival. The economic signals posted on NC in early 2020 during the initial Covid outbreak helped me to prepare for the supply chain chaos that followed. When the Iran war broke out last winter, once again, there was info very early on how this fiasco might play out. I came up with a plan, as in what provisions were needed for the long term, in order to stay ahead of the tariffs and inflation/supply chain mess. In hindsight, those purchases made during early Covid and early Iran War were bargains compared to prices now. That strategy has bought us extra time to hang on a lot longer than we would have otherwise. Why let the emergency savings account sit there and become worthless as the cost of everything skyrockets? If the present situation isn’t an emergency, then what is?
The links provided on NC, both in the postings as well as by commenters, also allow for searching out into other sources for trustworthy intel. Naked Capitalism is like a University for me…
Thanks to Yves as well as all other contributors and commenters at NC who have helped me become more aware and educated. I will be pitching in with a donation later today, because without this place, I would feel lost and alone, and honestly don’t think I would have made it this far in life without this resource. Most of the scattered residents out here in these dying rural areas are still in denial about all sorts of things (including the climate), so face-to-face conversations concerning the present crises are usually not very productive. However, in those times when I get feeling overwhelmed and negative, the folks in the enlightened NC community help keep me sane and make me feel much less isolated.

As a result of being a visitor/resident in Israel for 10 months in 1982-83, I learned how much the establishment media of our society filter and distort what we read, see and hear.
