I am a University student currently studying Foreign Relations and International Economics. I was introduced to world of investing through Peter Lynch’s One Up on Wall Street at quite a young age. Since then I have become an avid reader of investment literature. I became inspired by the approach of giants such as Benjamin Graham, then further developed by Warren Buffett. From recent literature, I hold the works of Michael Maboussin in high regard, his detailed explanations of the impacts of sustainable competitive advantages and revisions in market expectations having a large impact on my own investment approach. I believe that the greatest long-term returns for investors stem from continuous revisions of market expectations, which, from the few years of my personal experience, tend to be most commonly caused by long periods of outsized returns. I view my work as an investor lies in identifying specific factors leading to mentioned outsized returns, such as various forms of competitive advantages or outstanding managerial strategy, along with identifying a company’s relative undervaluation. Put simply, I believe in growth at a reasonable price. I also believe the greatest alpha is found where qualitative factors—such as superior managerial strategy or structural competitive advantages—are not yet fully reflected in the numbers. For the past four years, I have managed a personal portfolio as my primary source of financial support, focusing on identifying the gap between a company’s intrinsic value and the market’s current expectations.
