Early on in my business, I had an unexpected opportunity. A close friend of mine was a talented photographer, and she offered to do a photoshoot for me—for free.
At the time, I honestly didn’t see the value in it. I wasn’t making much money yet, I didn’t think I was photogenic, and the idea of being in front of a camera made me uncomfortable. If anything, I assumed the photos wouldn’t turn out very well.
But I said yes anyway, mostly because it didn’t cost me anything.
And then I got the photos back.
I remember looking at them and thinking, who is that? Not in a bad way, but in a completely surprised, almost disbelieving way. The images looked polished, natural, and somehow… confident. It felt like I was seeing a version of myself I hadn’t fully stepped into yet.
That moment changed more than just how I saw those photos. It changed how I showed up in my business.
The Confidence Shift You Can’t Fake
Before that photoshoot, I hesitated to put my face on my website. I didn’t feel confident, and that hesitation showed up everywhere—from my branding to my messaging.
But once I had those professional photos, something shifted.
I felt proud to use them. I felt more comfortable showing up online. And that confidence started to ripple into everything else I was doing.
It’s hard to overstate how much this matters. When you feel confident in how your brand looks, you naturally show up differently. You communicate more clearly, you market more boldly, and you stop hiding behind perfectionism.
That alone can move your business forward in a big way.
