The Bank of Japan should proceed cautiously with interest-rate increases, tightening at a pace that is neither too fast nor too slow, policy board member Asahi Noguchi said Thursday.
The most realistic approach to monetary policy is to “conduct policy interest-rate hikes incrementally over time while monitoring the impact this has on economic activity and prices,” Noguchi said in a speech to business leaders in the southern prefecture of Oita.
