Working from home has many perks, but there are some drawbacks. First, many work at home jobs are for independent contractors and freelancers, which means you’re responsible for paying self-employment taxes.
Second, many remote jobs don’t offer employee benefits, so no health insurance, no paid time off, no sick leave, and no 401(k) plan. When you work from home, you must consider these things.
Luckily, more companies are offering telecommuting positions with employee benefits. From my research, the majority of remote jobs that offer benefits are for full-time workers, which is generally the case when you work in a traditional office setting, too.
