Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce has intensified market monitoring to ensure price stability and prevent unjustified increases following recent Cabinet decisions aimed at supporting citizens and economic growth.
The ministry said its Inspection Directorate is overseeing the implementation of government initiatives, including adjustments to natural gas prices for companies and factories, updates to fuel pricing mechanisms, and other measures designed to improve financial conditions and support economic development.
Inspection teams will carry out expanded campaigns and field visits across markets and commercial areas nationwide, with particular attention to sectors linked to the basic needs of citizens and residents. The ministry stressed that any form of price manipulation or unjustified increases will not be tolerated.
Monitoring efforts will cover all commercial sectors and retail outlets across the Kingdom. Authorities warned that violations could result in strict penalties, including financial fines, business closures, administrative deregistration, and referral to the Public Prosecution.
The ministry urged shop owners and commercial establishments to comply fully with laws and regulations governing commercial activity and not to exploit government initiatives as a pretext for raising prices unlawfully.
Consumers were also encouraged to support monitoring efforts by reporting violations through the National Suggestion and Complaints System (Tawasul), via WhatsApp at 17111225, or by email at [email protected].
